The Saudi Arabian Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery and its official journal [Saudi Journal of Obesity (SJO)] are witnessing dramatic changes since the beginning of year 2018 with regard to its elected new board members and new editorial board respectively. The preceding board members accomplished a great job in establishing and developing the society and the journal to its current position and shape. It is really easy to do a good work with great enthusiasm at the beginning, but practically hard to maintain it over the years. What is going to face new board members is to keep up the good work, nevertheless, and keep developing it!

The SJO is currently published as two issues per year, and with more contribution of all disciplines concerned with obesity and related comorbidiites, we expect to increase its production to four issues per year. We hope also that the SJO will be more recognized nationally and internationally by adding it to the PubMed™ website. There are no submission fees, no other publication charges, and no subscription fees. Articles will be published on the journal’s website (www.saudijobesity.com) upon acceptance and be freely available.

The SJO accepts articles for publication by all disciplines concerned with obesity and related comorbidities including bariatric surgery, obesity medicine, dieting and nutrition, psychology and psychiatry, physical fitness and exercise, obesity prevention and control policies/strategic interventions/guidelines. Good researches from other related governmental and private sectors such as schools’ health, workplaces, mass and social media, community participation, food industry, and insurance companies are also welcome in the journal.

For the upcoming SJO issues, we expect original, high quality, and peer reviewed papers in the form of editorials, review articles, original articles, book reviews, quality improvement reports, case reports, and correspondence on matters related to the prevention and control of obesity and related NCDs.

Finally, the current and new additions to the editorial board are of a multidisciplinary background, which will make work interprofessionally and looking at all researches equally and fairly. They are very delighted to receive comments and advices to improve the SJO position further and become more recognized and cited internationally.
